GED Social Studies Practice Test

The GED Social Studies test evaluates your understanding of historical events, civics and government, geography, and economics. This practice test contains 30 questions that mirror the content and format of the actual GED Social Studies examination.

GED Social Studies Test Content Areas

The Social Studies section covers four main content areas:

  • Civics and Government (50%): Types of government, democratic principles, rule of law, Constitution, Bill of Rights, political parties, and civic involvement
  • U.S. History (20%): Key historical periods, important events, and influential figures in American history
  • Economics (15%): Economic systems, market structures, government economic policy, labor and wages, and money and banking
  • Geography and the World (15%): Physical and human geography, environmental issues, and global connections

You'll have 70 minutes to complete approximately 36 questions on the actual test. The questions test your ability to analyze social studies information and apply social studies concepts.
